About Me

I’ve had the pleasure of growing up in the best of two worlds; the Sri Lankan community and as a Londoner. I  was born and raised in London, and my ethnic origin is Sri Lankan Tamil. Both cultures have shaped me to be the person I am today but it has been a long journey figuring out who I am and how I fit into these worlds. I've struggled with my own identity for many years throughout my childhood, as a teenager and now as an adult so I understand the pressures and expectations that family, cultures, community and society can place upon us.

It wasn't until in 2016,  in my late 20s when I considered counselling as a career path. I came to realise there wasn't really representation of counsellors within the Sri Lankan Tamil community and this really made me question things. Not only did I question things, but it eventually spurred me onto take action and decide to become a counsellor myself. It was pretty much a 'moment' in my life that clicked and my instinct was to follow up with researching local colleges. Four years on, and this has led me down a path of self-discovery and self-awareness which has shaped me to be the person I want to be, as well as the counsellor as I am today.
